Pharmacology

About us

The virtual Department of Pharmacology focuses on the properties of novel and established drugs as well as other compounds with biological activities. Our research interest ecompasses: identification and characterisation of endogenous and exogenous compounds' targets on cellular level and the nature of these interactions. Furthermore, we are interested in the  effects the forementioned compounds are producing in cells and tissues, and which signalling pathways they are using upon binding. Another focus is the study of pharmacoresitance of in particular to anticancer drugs,  by which biomarkers is manifested and how to overcome it.

To achieve our reserch goals we are using radioligandands binding and functional methods, spectroscopic and imaging methods, flow cytometry, and real-time measurement of cellular bioenergetics in addition to classical pharmacological methods like isolated organs.
